After an extremely turbulent and slightly frightening plane ride from Houston to Monterrey, I have safely arrived in Monterrey, gone thru customs and immigration, retrieved my luggage and met up with the rest of the interns. After a quick stop for some Subway and Starbucks (yes, they have them here), I was on my way to the Back2Back campus. When we arrived it was pouring rain and we are now being told that we are in tropical storm weather….this should be interesting.
Since arriving on campus we have done a full 8 hours or so of training and preparing for the teams that will be arriving tomorrow. A couple who lives on campus had a pizza dinner for all of the interns and nannies. I’ve never been a fan of Domino’s pizza, but apparently Mexico has a different recipe, cuz that was good!! We are currently all sitting around on our laptops touching base with family and getting ready for a long day ahead of us tomorrow. Connection is super slow here when there are 6 people using the wifi, so mom, TW, and I were only able to skype for about 30 seconds. For now, it’s time to wind down a little more and then head to bed.
More random thoughts:
-I love meeting new people and learning their stories
-The roads in Mexico are awful, especially when you are sitting above the back wheels on a bus
-Mexican buses are not waterproof….I have the wet shorts to prove it
-Mountains are absolutely amazing when they have clouds covering the tops of them
I am so excited for you! I'm looking forward to your blog updates, but as I'm sure you know, keep your journal handy so you can jot down your thoughts as you have them. I was bad about keeping mine with me and would forget things I wanted to write about. Have a great time!
