Day 23

Saturday!  My favorite day…not.  I helped in the kitchen a lot today, which involved making 33 lunches (or 66 sandwiches) for arriving groups.  We have over 100 guests on campus this week, so it was a little hectic and insane today.  After the Casa Hogar Del Norte kids got here, we swam for a while and then soon after getting out, it began to pour!  And I mean rained HARD for a good hour or so.  I stood in the food serving line, after having run across campus to the big palapa (where everyone was), in an inch a water.

When it rains here, that means that everyone goes on red alert for drips, flooding, pooling, and damage.  We immediately start placing coolers everywhere that water is dripping from the ceiling, along with finding as many towels as we can get to soak up water that may leak under the doors (which happened in my dorm).  We even have a large supply of squeegees that we use on all of the porches to avoid rain getting into the buildings.  Basically when it rains here, know going in that you are gonna get more than wet.  I was completely soaked, but we got thru dinner and worship with just a little bit more rain.

I haven’t been sleeping very well, so I’m turning in 2 hours ahead of normal.  Goodnight!
