Day 17 - Revolution

I went to church at Douglas today, and it was, again, AMAZING!  There was tons of movement among the crowd when it came to all of the jumping and motion songs.  I wish church in the US was this fun!  These people come to church to have fun, not just to be able to put a sticker on their Jesus chart.  They go nuts when the band starts playing any song, it makes you feel welcomed so quickly.
I looked all around for my little Alex today, but I was later told that he had been picked up to stay with some extended family for a short time while he is out of school.

Greg spoke again today about having the faith of a child.  I’ve always found this to be a great concept, but have not truly appreciated it until tonight.  I’m babysitting for a summer staff family that lives in house 3 now that the Couch’s are gone.  They have three adorable little girls that are as intelligent and lively as they come!  We got to prayer time tonight and both of the older girls (5 & 3), wanted a chance to pray.  The prayers that flowed out of these precious little girls were more meaningful and heartfelt than I have ever heard anyone pray before.

When it was time to sing the song where you crouch down low and jump up, they needed a volunteer to show the new guests how to do it.  My excited friends in the band called me up.  After showing them a round of “Tanto,” it was time to go thru the whole song together and it was a blast!  I had a small 2 year old run up to me from the back of the room and start doing the dance with me while I held her.  Then a little while later when we sang “Te Doy Gloria,” a 4 year old girl walked right up to me and grabbed my hand so that she could jump with me while we both had our free hand in the air.  These kids are so carefree and open when it comes to praising Jesus, it makes you think about what the rest of us are doing wrong.  What has happened to our faith that it is so contained in nice, neat, quiet little packages?  Why is it that we can go crazy during a football game, but can barely keep ourselves awake during church?  What happened to not wanting to leave on Sunday mornings because church was where you were having fun praising Jesus?

If everyone praised with such open hearts and confidence as these kids, the phrase “faith of a child” would become revolutionary.
