A few facts and differences between here and America:
-You can’t flush your toilet paper here, which means if you accidentally let it drop in, you get to fish it out. I’ll let you go ahead and figure out if that one is from personal experience or not.
-Water intake is quadrupled, which means you are either holding a bottle or filling it up at all times.
-Internet generally sucks unless you can spend a half hour or so trying to find “the sweet spot,” which changes hourly.
-You sweat constantly due to the heat everywhere (including indoors), which makes showering feel almost pointless.
-Peanut Butter & jelly will become your favorite food. That, or you starve. I’m eating one as I type this. That’s how much of a staple it is.
-Walking around barefoot is only intelligent on a cool day. I found this one out today when I climbed our metal staircase up to the dorms. I think I heard my skin sizzle.
(Hold that thought….I need more water)
-The people here truly care. The day that I was sick, I had people who I didn’t even talk to that day asking me if I was feeling better.
-Finding your “me” time can be difficult when living with 10 other girls as well as close to 100 other people on campus. Yet, when you do get some time by yourself or on your day off, it feels extra lonely.
-There is an endless supply of Oreos and chips. The stockpile that we have in the pantry is truly incredible and gets replenished every week. If I come back weighing 500lbs, you’ll all know why.
-Fans are a wonderful creation. We can only turn the air conditioning on between 8pm and 8am, so it gets pretty toasty during the day.
