Day 8 - Intern Outing & A Fall

TODAY WAS AMAZING!  It was the day for our intern outing and we were all dreading it to begin with because it was rumored to involve hiking, boy were we wrong!  But let me back up to very early this morning.  I was on the schedule today to wake up with one of the groups this morning before their flight and to help them clean up.  This would have been all good and dandy if it hadn’t been 2:30am.  Then again at 7:20am because their group was flying out in 2 sets.

After a few more hours of sleep it was time for our intern meeting and then to get ready and head out for the day.  First we went to Tacos Quin and had some pretty great tacos.  And great news!  I am now officially a Mexican!...according to Elias (another intern).  He told me you aren’t officially Mexican until you eat lime with salt on it, so during lunch today I completed this task and have fully embraced my newfound heritage. ;)

Walmart was next up on the agenda.  Let me tell you, this was much needed by all of us!  And after a quick scare of losing my notebook inside the Walmart, we were off to Colo de Caballo (Horsetail).  Colo de Caballo is a giant waterfall in the mountains that is absolutely gorgeous.  But before we headed up to the waterfall we stopped off to see an amazing view behind a nearby hotel.  This was an amazing site in itself, but then we all looked to the left and there was a bungee jumping area!!  After a few questions and phone calls home to parents, Eddie, Sebas, and I were all set to go off of the highest jump in Mexico!  IT WAS AMAZING!!  And apparently contagious, because a total of 8 members from our team ended up going.  I basically yelled, screamed, and whooped the entire time.  The free fall was absolutely the BEST part!  And the adrenaline rush during and after was indescribable!

After bungee jumping was over we headed up the mountain to see the most incredible waterfall!  Overall, excellent intern outing day!

  1. Sounds like a blast...I have done a lot of things in my life but I have never bungeed. I am afraid it will now never happen because I have become afraid of heights. Mexico is a beautiful place and I am glad you are having such a good time. I tried to imagine how you would be at 230 in the morning and I imagined the worst because I can remember more than a few times you were sleepy in Spanish class.
